When you are facing a challenge know that you do not have to travel alone.
My husband and I purchased an answering service that was started in the late 1940’s by his grandmother, serving the doctors in the local hospitals. Over the years the service expanded and by the time we purchased it from his parents in 1987, the calls were routed by computer and the staff handled calls on original CRT screens. My husband was working for a corporation in New York City, and I had zero, zip, nada experience in computers, but my father-in-law was sick, and he needed to sell the service. He asked me to take it on and run the business because he felt I had the “heart” and “smarts” to manage the staff and keep the business going better than any of his competitors. My husband continued to work in New York, and we moved to the Philadelphia area to take over the business.
The first six months were definitely a “baptism by fire” that we all survived, and the business did well. Over the years, I made a lot of changes - stabilized the staff, developed training programs, and consistently upgraded the technology to tap into new markets.. Five years after I took over the business, my husband left his job in New York and joined me in the business, and we worked side-by-side for the next ten years. Over our 15 year tenure, we grew the business by 300% in revenue. It was quite an incredible undertaking that gave me great insight into leadership development, effective management, and small business ownership - with family involvement!
In 2001 we successfully sold the business, and I started my next career in the not-for-profit sector. Starting at an entry-level as a development coordinator, I processed gifts, wrote appeal letters and newsletters, and staffed volunteer committees. Over the last twenty-five years I have been inspired by the missions I served (local faith-based organizations, national scientific research organizations, animal rescue, and international development and humanitarian relief organization). My experience as a business owner helped me move up the ranks in these organizations and ultimately I have served as a leader in development and advancement and even as Executive Director overseeing boards of directors and all staff. What continues to inspire me about this work is the positive impact that dedicated people can have in their community and for the missions they care about.
Coaching has been something I have done throughout my career, and finally, in 2015, I began learning about the science and strategies of being a professional coach. As a person who believes that each of us can achieve our most exciting dreams, and having helped people do that, I decided to become certified as a professional coach.
You may have been silenced, ignored, passed over, maligned, or mistreated leading you to believe that you are where you are supposed to be or else “someone” would have noticed, and things would be different.
Someone did notice.
You noticed.
You want to break out of the rut you are in. To lead with your own voice. To be regarded as credible, thoughtful, strategic, authentic, and worthy.
Coaching is an impactful catalyst on your journey towards this growth.
As your coach, I will not be telling you what to do. Instead, I will help you think about your deepest goals, desires and help you bring forth your wise and sage voice. I will ask questions that require you to think deeply, and I will give you space to uncover your true essence.
Engaging me as your coach begins your journey to deeper fulfillment. I will help you become happier, more productive and offer tools and resources so that you can easily achieve your stretch goals and make the changes you seek.
Coaching is a personal relationship. You have to trust me to help you. The best way to begin is with a phone call to discuss what you want to achieve so that you can determine if I am the person to help you accomplish this.
